Going To The Abbey And They’re Gonna Get Married…

It’s Royal Wedding Day! Woot!

I slept on the couch last night so that I wouldn’t be getting out of bed before 3:00 a.m. and waking up Jim, who wouldn’t be able to get back to sleep from the disturbance. Naturally I woke up early, in anticipation no doubt. My eyes sprung open at 2:37 a.m.

This day, much like my hair after sleeping on the couch for the last 4.5 hours, will not be pretty.

Let the live blogging begin…

3:01 a.m. I’m watching the coverage on NBC. I’m a Today Show junkie. Just learned that the titles bestowed on the newlyweds by the Queen will be the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Love it.

3:04 a.m. Chelsy Davy, Prince Harry’s girlfriend, is wearing an unfortunate green dress. So unflattering. Nice hat, though.

3:07 a.m. I want to go to there.

3:09 a.m. Al Roker=Dapper Dan

3:12 a.m. THANK GOD NBC PULLED MICHELLE KOSINSKI OUT IN FRONT AGAIN! (Did you see my Tumblr post from yesterday?)

3:14 a.m. Meredith: “You look great Natalie, actually, in that hat!” (Is that a backhanded compliment? You be the judge.)

3:17 a.m. David Beckham and Posh Spice are arriving. She is wearing a really goofy hat. I am really disappointed in her hat choice, honestly. Sleeked back, long ponytail with it? Ick. Must find a picture to post.

3:25 a.m. OH YEAH! The Olympics are in London next year! Woot!

3:27 a.m. The older ladies attending the wedding are definitely sticking to Queen Elizabeth-style, traditional hats.

3:31 a.m. I would love to be in that Rolls Royce right now.

3:35 a.m. Posh’s hat:

3:41 a.m. Matt and Meredith are interviewing Clementine Hambro, one of Charles and Diana’s bridesmaids (she was five at the time). I wonder how many people from Charles and Diana’s wedding are being interviewed today.

3:46 a.m. Now they’re interviewing Martin Bashir. I LOVE HIM.

3:47 a.m. Elton John and David Furnish arriving! Lady Gaga might be babysitting, since she’s the Godmother and all.

3:53 a.m. I just had to back up the DVR because I thought I saw a guy in the crowd outside wearing a Burger King paper crown. He was. #yikes

3:55 a.m. Realizing I will be in the neighborhood of seventy years old when the first child of William and Catherine gets married. Oy vey. Will still plan to get up early.

3:57 a.m. Admiring how everything inside Westminster Abbey is positively sparkling. I wonder if the head of the cleaning crew shouted, “If this floor don’t shine like the top of the Chrysler Building, your backsides will!” (Ahem, source: “Annie”)

4:05 a.m. I AM STARVING. Would someone please run up the seven steps to my kitchen for me and make me my breakfast?

4:06 a.m. I feel like the British Prime Minister’s wife phoned it in today.

4:07 a.m. Dear NBC News, the Beckhams are not royalty. Stop showing them.

4:09 a.m. I love how the Brits put the emphasis on the second part of Prin-CESS. Love it.

4:10 a.m. Martin Bashir is talking about Diana. I am getting emotional already. #dork

4:12 a.m. The boys!! There they are!

SOMEONE GET ME SOME KLEENEX!

4:19 a.m. Diana would be so proud. Gah.

4:22 a.m. Love how William and Harry are chatting up the guests.

4:28 a.m. The bride’s mother and brother are on their way to Westminster Abbey. I’d love to hear THAT conversation.

4:30 a.m. I should’ve taken a bathroom break when they were still showing Posh Spice.

4:31 a.m. I’m tired, hungry, and I need to go to the bathroom. Wish I was all of those things AND in front of Westminster Abbey instead of on my couch next to a snoring beagle.

4:34 a.m. “She’s gone local with her millnery.” You don’t hear THAT in the United States, ever.

4:36 a.m. The “Senior Royalty” is now on the way! Anyone see Fergie? (the former Royal, not the rockstar.)

4:39 a.m. Sue has just left a comment full of amazing questions about hat etiquette.

4:41 a.m. WHOA. Fergie’s girls have some outrageous hats on!

4:42 a.m. The Queen is wearing yellow. She and the Duke of Edinburgh (wearing a bright red uniform) could easily sit in Oprah’s “bright colors preferred” 25th and final season audience.

4:44 a.m. Jimmy Choo apparently having a very good day.

4:47 a.m. So cute to see the bridesmaids waving from their cars!

4:49 a.m. What do you suppose the Queen carries in her purse? My guess is a lipstick and a Nintendo DS. Your guess?

4:51 a.m. Catherine’s hair is DOWN! Shoot, I lost five bucks on that one. Kidding. I knew it would be down.

4:53 a.m. I am getting emotional all over again. Someone please get me some tissue! And some breakfast! And a Go Girl!

4:54 a.m. The bride to be looks amazing inside the car. I can’t wait until she steps out. I am amazed that Jim is able to sleep through this.

4:56 a.m. Pippa looks AMAZING. Wowza.

5:00 a.m. I wonder if Catherine has sweaty palms. She’s getting out of the car! WOW! GORGEOUS dress by Sarah Burton!

5:02 a.m. She looks so much more relaxed than Diana did. Just beautiful. *sob*

5:03 a.m. I wonder if Catherine had cocktails this morning.

5:06 a.m. She is totally clutching her dad’s hand, hard. Aww!

5:08 a.m. Waiting to see William turn around to see her…I just read his lips. He told her she looks beautiful.

5:11 a.m. The sound and picture isn’t currently matching up on NBC. Come on NBC, get it together!

5:12 a.m. She’s singing, but the Prime Minister’s wife is really thinking, “I should’ve worn the hat.”

5:15 a.m. The “I will’s…” Sigh.

5:17 a.m. KLEENEX!

5:20 a.m. The declaration that William and Catherine are husband and wife brings cheers from the outside crowds. And squees from my family room.

5:24 a.m. I think that’s Catherine’s brother who is making a speech. I wonder if he and Harry party together.

5:28 a.m. I just noticed that at some point a few minutes ago, NBC matched up the sound and the picture. Nice job, NBC, and thanks for reading.

5:33 a.m. Gotta love a good boys’ choir, but I took the opportunity to get dressed and finally go to the bathroom. I hope they sing again so I can get something to eat!

5:35 a.m. The newlyweds are so adorable as they keep catching each other’s eye. The Duke of Edinburgh, however, has body language that says, “Elizabeth, don’t you dare even look in my direction!”

5:39 a.m. The prayer that William and Catherine wrote for themselves is just beautiful.

5:40 a.m. Boys’ choir! Time for brekkie!

5:43 a.m. Chocolate macaroons, strawberries and whipped cream FTW!

5:45 a.m. J just stumbled down here to take a shower in the bathroom right off the family room. He is now in the shower, singing. I don’t think it’s a song William and Catherine would’ve chosen.

5:52 a.m. I wonder what Charles and Camilla are giving as a wedding gift.

5:54 a.m. Pippa could give Lindsay Lohan lessons on how to tastefully wear a white dress.

5:56 a.m. Don’t worry people, they’re coming back. They just went back with their families to sign the marriage register in private. And probably make out for a minute.

6:02 a.m. J, passing through: “Wow, those are some sideways hats!” Me: “Wait, look at THOSE! Those girls are Sarah Ferguson’s daughters.” J: “Who’s Sarah Ferguson?” And then I passed out.

6:03 a.m. Come on Matt Lauer, I think we all know that the balcony kiss scheduled for about 90 minutes from now isn’t the FIRST kiss.

6:05 a.m. The recessional! Whee!

6:07 a.m. I can’t wait to hear the crowds shrieking for the newlyweds as they get into their carriage.

6:09 a.m. Would love for William to just hoist Catherine up and gently toss her into the carriage.

6:14 a.m. Note to self: ask @connieburke if GM will be coming out with any carriages for the 2012 year.

6:20 a.m. Haha, this search term led someone here a few minutes ago: “Why are Fergie’s girls wearing such hats?” J, WAS THAT YOU??

6:28 a.m. OMG, Connie just left me a comment about the 2012 GM carriage. I better start saving up for it, and some horses!

6:29 a.m. Okay, the newlyweds are inside Buckingham Palace and that’s my cue to shut ‘er down: I have to leave for J’s field trip in fifteen minutes! This day is going to be…zzzz…..

(Thanks for joining me this morning! Whee!)

I’m out!
