Earthquake in Illinois This Morning!

You know, I woke up at around 4:30 a.m. and felt the bed shaking, as if a train was going by. Roxie’s little bed is parked at the foot of ours and for a second I thought she was having a vigorous scratch, but I heard her give a sleepy sigh and I knew that wasn’t it. I was only half awake so I thought, “Ehhh…whatever.”

Then I got up 90 minutes later to get my day going and saw this on the news.

How bizarre!

I’ve always loved San Francisco…

You mean your husband didn’t just put an extra quarter in the bed? LOL. 🙂

Glad it was just one to wake you up and not one to harm you!

Mags: Ha! Hilarious! (and…no, he didn’t.) hee hee

Thanks girls: it was totally minor. But I heard that they even felt it in Milwaukee. Hopefully Colleen will check in here later and let us know if she woke up as well. The worst of it (home foundation-shaking) was in S. Illinois.

My DS and DIL woke up to the whole house shaking and the ceiling fan going crazy above them. Freaky! Glad everyting’s OK at your house.

I didn’t feel a thing! Of course, I could have slept right through it. We did have an aftershock around 10:30 that I didn’t feel again. LOL Our school custodian was at home on break and said he felt it.

I lived in California (SF area) for several years and used to think the minor earthquakes we got were entertaining.

THEN we got the 1989 Loma Prieta (World Series) quake, 7.1 on the Richter scale. It was NOT fun. Neither were the aftershocks we felt for the next year. They may have felt them beyond a year but I didn’t stick around to find out. I had been homesick for Oregon and that quake just helped me make up my mind to move back home!!!
