It’s Likely That The Only Bigger News Would Be That I’m Pregnant.

Bite your tongue.

Oh wait, *I* said that.

I’m not pregnant, but I am now expecting something this year: the publication of my second book!

I know. I can’t believe it myself. I’ve worked on this labor of love since 2005 (with the bulk of it at the top of my priority list for the past two years), and the fact that it will be out there this year totally blows my mind.

The last fourteen months have been an interesting (and frustrating) part of this journey. When I sent several proposals out to publishers in November 2009, I proclaimed to the universe how badly I wanted this to happen. None of those original proposals were accepted (rejection is a big part of being a writer, you know!), and I ended up having to try to find an agent who would represent me (fail), and then reached out some more.

The journey was worth it: I know I ended up exactly where I was supposed to. I spent nearly forty minutes on the phone with my new publisher yesterday, and was thrilled that she and I are on the same page (no pun intended) about so many things regarding my book.

Naturally you’ll be hearing lots more about it (get ready!), but I can now announce here that my book is a Chicagoland travel guide for families with tweens and teens, and it’ll be published–if all goes smoothly–by June of this year by Little Creek Books!

Sigh.

After I hung up with my publisher (I love saying that!), my head nearly exploded from all I have to get done in the next couple of weeks, but it’s all good. Making a dream come true is hard work sometimes!

I look forward to giving you more information as the wheels start turning faster! Thanks for all of your support!
