I Take the “Super” Out of “Superhuman”.

Yesterday was one of the most productive days I’ve had in ages. I got up at 6:15 (slept in by 30 minutes, since the younger boy didn’t have school!), answered some emails, ate a good breakfast (spinach and egg scramble, with a teensy amount of feta), and got dressed for my Zumba class.

I headed over to the dance studio, took my class, waved goodbye to my friends and went home. I watched a little “Top Gear” (the British version, not the American copycat) with the younger boy, showered, put a load of clothes in the washer, unloaded the dishwasher, reloaded the dishwasher, ate a nice mini-lunch (Triscuits with light swiss cheese and pear slices on top--check it: it’s on the back of the box, too!), and settled in to work while the younger boy and his girlfriend watched a couple of movies.

I got three posts done for my review blog, sent out an email to all of the tenth grade (my son’s class) religious school parents, asking who would be at the pizza lunch this Sunday, and then made five contacts with salons for my upcoming article for Nailpro.

All before 4:00.

I felt superhuman, truly, because normally I don’t get that many tasks done in a day, due to my schedule being crazed or my mojo being stunted for any number of reasons. I was on that total high you get, just from getting things DONE. Then, it was almost time to take the younger boy to his guitar lesson and I thought we’d better shovel. We went to grab our coats, and that’s when I came crashing down from my aforementioned high.

I left my coat at the dance studio*.

Oops.

There’s nothing like a little reminder that, when it comes down to it, we’re all just human.

*It was an honest mistake, but one I’ll not make again. All of us leave our coats in the lobby of the dance studio. I wear a fleece jacket under my winter coat, on top of my sleeveless workout shirts, and I wear my fleece into the studio itself, where we do the workout. I take my purse and my keys into the room with me too, just in case someone walks in off the street while my class is going on: I wouldn’t want them getting my valuables! Yesterday, I was sweaty as usual after class. I put my fleece jacket on, grabbed my purse and keys, and strolled out, saying goodbye as I headed towards the door. With my fleece on, the cold outside didn’t even hit me, and I was focused on all that I had to do when I got home. New strategy? Leave my fleece jacket with my winter coat. Or maybe tattoo “Remember coat!” on my hand. Either one.

I think "remember coat" would look better tattooed on your forhead backwards so it would remind you when you looked in the mirror!

    You are one busy girl!

Well it is tuff to get old and have so much going on in your life. I would not say slow down but "s" happens and just figure you will do better the next time.

You inspire me! My day was the exact opposite yesterday. I had planned to do a million things and did hardly any. After reading your post about productivity, I'm feeling inspired to actually do the things that are on my to do list and not just look at them!

That is alot of stuff to do in one day with or without a coat. I lost a coat in college and I don't think my mom ever looked at me the same again. I just don't think she could comprehend. What can I say? I drank a lot back then.

Well, I often think of you as being super human. In a good way. Not in the freaky weird way.

I've been horrible at commenting on blogs and interacting…I'm sorry for that. I'm going to try to get back into blogging hardcore. 🙂

Sounds like a good reason to get out of shoveling (which i never do anyway) to me!!!
Just remember, we don't want to be superheros because….with great power comes greater responsibility.

With me, it's the other way around: I forget more things before 4:00 than most people do all day. So you can still claim superhuman as far as I'm concerned.

I did this the other morning – go looking for my jacket that is. Productivity went out with window when our daughter was born. The one day I actually did need it here and I'd left it in our friends car because we actually got out of the house without the kids.
