Cruzing Chicagoland: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwestern Indiana

One of the great things about General Motors (major sponsor of my Chicago book launch event) is their involvement with various charities. It was inspiring to me, and when I started planning my event I decided to “hook up” with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwestern Indiana. They do beyond-wonderful things by providing a “home away from home” for families with hospitalized children, and I’ve been involved with them in the past (not to mention my close ties with the McDonald’s brand), so it was a great match.

My friend Margaret and I took a Cruze (literally) to the Lincoln Park neighborhood to check out the House there. It was an emotional visit, and made me want to do even more. I vowed to myself (and Margaret!) that I was going to find ways to stay actively involved with this charity.

The House Director couldn’t have been nicer, and I have tons of footage that I couldn’t include because I didn’t want to make a 25-minute video. Trust me when I tell you that this place is phenomenal. But watch for yourself, would you?

This really was the best part of the day. Brought me back to earth, to gratitude and hope that there are people out there who are truly helping each other.

I’m making myself tear up a little right now, whenever I tell anyone about this part of the day, I start to cry.

Amazing, and great job with the editing!

What an awesome group of folks. We had the honor of cooking dinner for the families of our local RMH with my middle daughter’s girl scout troop. Thanks for sharing this and all your fantastic videos from the week!

I have always loved what they do for families and I worked pretty closely with our area house here when I did my clinicals at the children’s hospital! Thanks for sharing!
