They were in their late sixties or early seventies, I’m sure. I didn’t notice them immediately because I dance in the front row, and it wasn’t until we did a pivot step to the back of the room that they came into my line of sight. There is a class for seniors, you see, in the gym right after Zumba is over. The older folks who arrive nice and early (I think that’s most of them!) usually stand outside the door, but today was different. Maybe it was the music. Maybe it was my adorably perky instructor. Maybe it was the desire to just move. Whatever “it” was pulled them…

My Trainer, Bob.
So… The Biggest Loser. I am a Biggest Loser fan. Since day one, actually. My mention of the show probably won’t sit well with everyone: it usually doesn’t. I’ve participated in many debates over the years–in real life and on Facebook–about whether the show and the people behind it are “right” or “wrong”. It seems to me that there are just a few types of people, where viewing the show is concerned: 1. I have seen it and think it’s amazing and inspiring. 2. I have seen it and think it’s not only ridiculous but sends the wrong message. 3. I haven’t seen it. I am, of course, part of…

#BlogHer11: Third Time’s A Charm!
BlogHer ’11 was my third, and there was something magical about it for me (shut up). Okay, the first two times I attended BlogHer were pretty darn good too, but I had the most fun this year, perhaps partly because I didn’t overdo like I did last year. I don’t even know where to start with my recap so I just decided to spew randomness sprinkled with pictures. That’s organized enough, isn’t it? Favorite moments: (so many, and in no particular order!) 1. Lots of quality time with my favorite “really, really, really wish we were neighbors” Jersey girl, Liz. I luv huh. 2. Giggling with my roommates, especially each…

Dynamic Duo
I just spent the evening with one of my favorite guys, just the two of us. D and I made steak fajitas for dinner and then traded our daytime clothes for pajamas, settled in on the couch, and watched the Foo Fighter’s documentary, “Back and Forth” (which I HIGHLY recommend, even if Dave Grohl and the guys aren’t your very favorite band as they are D’s). It was a lovely evening, punctuated by conversation only when we had something to share: there was no pressure to keep up the chatter because it was just fun to relax together. Jim and J are gone, you see: they’re currently sailing on a…

#BBSummit11: Great Conference, Great #BlogHer11 Warmup!
Over the weekend I attended the inaugural Midwest Moms Media Brands and Bloggers Summit, right here in Chicago. It was fantastic. Fantastic. BBSummit is a one-day conference meant to, as you can probably guess from its title, bring brands and bloggers together to talk about how we can all play in the same sandbox. It did that. The sold-out conference took place in one huge ballroom at the Doubletree Magnificent Mile, which was really nice. With 150 bloggers from all over the Midwest (and I think a couple flew in from other areas, too) seated at huge, round tables, we all experienced the same agenda all day. The sessions were:…
