    Teatime With McMel

If you stopped in yesterday, you know that I am now home from a whirlwind weekend, driving a Chevy Traverse (for a review I’ll post at my other blog later in the week) to Tennessee. We saw lots of folks, including both Jim’s parents and my parents as well as Jim’s sister and her family, Kate and Squeaks (Bean and Kate’s hubby were out watching fireworks), and another high school friend, McMel. All of that in a little more than two days, really. “Whirlwind” is appropriate indeed, don’t you think? I had not seen McMel since our high school’s ten-year reunion (back in 1996) and we only briefly chatted that…

    Help A Sista Out! (Please!!)

Remember Piper? She’s the friend of mine (and of so many of you too!) who has had, shall we say, a really bad year so far. And that’s a pretty big underestimation. After getting the bad news that turned her life upside down without any warning at all, she’s been struggling. And then, about ten days ago, her car caught on fire, leaving her without transportation to go, well, anywhere, including driving her boys where they need to go AND getting herself to the college where she just started classes. A bunch of us decided that we needed to try and do something that would help Piper, and so…we’re having…

    This is Why I’m Hot.

Oh my goodness, how I have grown to despise memes. But here’s the thing, when a friend who you really, really love asks you–nay, begs you–to do it, well, I’m a sucker good friend. And the best part is, now she owes me big time I made her very happy by doing this. If you choose to go crazy and do this meme also, Ri has a Mr. Linky on her original post that you can use to expose yourself and your eclectic musical tastes to others. So I’m not asking you to do it, but lets just say that you could make Ri really really happy too, if you…

A Little Bit Can Last A Lifetime

We are always told how the littlest of actions, good or bad, can affect somebody very deeply. Even so, bad things are, for some reason, kept in the “easily remembered” files of our brain, and the good things are more easily filtered and forgotten. Often you’ll hear or read about the long-lasting effects of a negative remark or some other non-event that, when triggered, can cause a person almost as much pain as it did initially. You’re in luck today: I do NOT have one of those negative stories. I have a story about one little kindness, one simple little action, that was performed by someone who, I can practically…

    Love of Piper.

Piper of Love, a friend of mine (and quite possibly a friend of yours), received some heartbreaking news last week. I am standing* in unison with a bunch of wonderful, lovely ladies who also adore her, to help hold her up during this time in which she doesn’t feel so strong. A bunch of us contributed pictures for the video: Amy – DooblevayAngie – A Whole Lot of NothingHeather – Soft SkiesJenny Grace – Miss DisgraceMelisa – Suburban ScrawlMelissa – Rock and DroolMishi – Secret Agent MamaMomo – Momo FaliRachel – A Southern FairytaleSarah – SarahndipiteaTara – If Mom Says OKWeaselmomma – World of Weasels…and then some more chimed in.…
