Who Knew An Empty Bag Could Contain So Much Bad Ju-Ju??

When my parents came up from Tennessee for Thanksgiving, they brought a big bag to me from Kate, which contained a few Yankee Candles I purchased from Bean during a preschool fundraiser (they’re getting those kids out earlier and earlier!). As I was taking the candles out of the bag, I noticed something in there that I didn’t expect: it was a quilted bag/purse that I had given to Kate two years ago. This bag is awesome. My aunt, who is a phenomenal quilter, gave me a couple of them and when I saw this particular one I knew I would have to give it to Kate because of the…

Who Knew That Making Fun of My Boss Would Lead To a Spontaneous Bloggie Meeting?

First, click it. Planned blogger meetings? You are OUT. Auf Wiedersehen. Spontaneity? You are IN. You can leave the runway. I was at work yesterday when I decided to send out a tweet, totally making fun of the fact that my boss (yeah, yeah, the salon owner, the one who can do whatever the hell she wants) decided to have a pedicure right in the middle of the work day, making it very difficult for the two of us to actually get some work done *together* in a rare slice of time when I’m there and she’s client-free. Her M.O. is that, from the ped chair, she will call out…

Yet Another Feather In My Cap

I want to shout out a big “Hello, how ya doin?” to my visitors from In A Martucci Minute! If you’re looking for the meat-touching post, it’s the next one down…or you can just click here. For my own regular readers, I have to tell you the story of what happened yesterday (you can read Kim’s version by clicking that first link up there!). I had just come home from yelling at that angry, meat-touching woman and was sitting at the computer, starting to blog about it, when I heard from Kim: “I am toying around with the idea of wearing LEG WARMERS on tv tomorrow (!) Melissa (She has…

Alright, Alright…Birthdays Aren’t THAT Bad, Especially When They Last A Week.

I have done a lot of bellyaching over the past couple of months about turning F…F…Fo…Forty, and although I am still not thrilled, my chosen new attitude is helping me to settle in, along with the wonderful birthday WEEK I just experienced. My friends and family tossed so much love at me, how could I be anything but warm and fuzzy? Last Sunday evening, Jim surprised me by taking the entire Fab Five (if you’re a newbie here at the Scrawl, the Fab Five is me, Jim, the boys, and my sister Julesie) out to dinner. Everyone knew where we were going except for me, the birthday girl. I was…
