Purim: The Recap

As predicted, we had a fun time at our temple last night. Here’s the evidence:

I know, I know, this photo is on the blurry side. But I wanted to show you a bit of the costume finery that showed up.

When his parents got up to do a reading, a youngster (actually a former student in my second grade religious school class!) left these goodies, hoping his parents wouldn’t notice them before sitting down. They did.

Remember the part about how we have to make noise to drown out the name of that evil guy during the story? They had a “Noise” sign that they held up for a minute and then put down so that everyone would know when to stop making a ruckus.

Here’s the 13-year-old growing tired of holding his noisemaker, so he stuck it in his afro wig.

Here are those Hamentaschen cookies I wrote about yesterday. These have apricot preserves inside.

Here’s the 13-year-old in a non-identifiable-by-name costume (He wore a Cubs jersey with an afro wig. Simple, understated…) and me, wearing a football jersey from the Powder Puff Football Game at my high school, Farragut High School, Class of 1986! (If you’re a classmate and have found me through a google search, identify yourself in a comment!!!)

Finally, I wanted to give you a taste of the reading (that makes no sense but I’m sure you all really do understand what I mean!). Some of it was read in Hebrew and some in English. This video is some of the Hebrew part. Don’t worry about understanding it; you’ll know when she gets to the parts mentioning the one who must not be named!

Have a Good Friday! (ha ha, get it?)

Not often you see King Tut and someone dressed like a Pimp? up at the altar.

He’s dressed like a cowboy, right?

Like Kathy, I had to look it up, too. I’m learning so much about Jew stuff! 🙂

Good Friday..haha I get it. Thanks for the video. OMG that looked like so much fun… fart cushions huh…neat idea.

I gotta learn more about that Jew stuff too. You can lead us through your religious year and we tag along learning something. Awesome

Too cool – I have never had the pleasure of being able to go to a Purim service!!! 😀

And it isn’t JUST Good Friday – it’s my birthday! WOOT!

Sounds like a fun day! Loving the photos 🙂

As for my photos…just, ugh. I take hundreds – it’s a good thing my Kodak uploady thing takes so long to save photos, so I generally have to be quite picky about how many I save or I’m stuck for hours.

I try and name them something vaguely specific about the photo (i.e “beach184757575”) so when I’m looking for them I have a snowball’s chance of finding them. Unfortunately, I am very lazy, and have only just discovered the idea of making lots of folders instead of just using 2 main ones.

But I rarely upload to flickr or similar, i just keep them clogging space on my mac desktop 🙂 I must do something about this….

Melissa: Ha! Yes, I think he was going for the cowboy look but I agree, it was sort of pimpish. LOL

Deanna: Happy (belated) Birthday! You go girl! See you Tuesday, I hope!
