Oh my gosh, do I love Hallmark. I always have: not only did my mom manage Hallmark stores for years (I helped out over some of the holidays, too), but also the quality of their products is unmatched. In general, there’s something about greeting cards that is magical to me. I’m always amazed to find cards that say exactly the right sentiment for whatever occasion I’m celebrating.
And of course, when I want to say it in my own words, in my own hand, I can always choose a card that’s blank inside. Here’s one my favorite Brian Regan clips of all time. Watch. Trust me, it’s hilarious.
Anyway, back to Hallmark. Over the years, what they have to offer has expanded way beyond the cards that made them a household name. They’ve got photo albums, books, Keepsake ornaments, and much, much more.
This year? The recordable books are making a splash. The concept behind these books is that anyone can record a book for someone near or far. It’s the perfect gift for grandparents, military parents, those with terminal illnesses, and adoptive families to give to that special little person, to make that loving connection even when they can’t be in the same room.
Even better, the books are really, really user-friendly. All you do is open up the book to the page you want to record, press the “record” button, read the words, and then press “stop”. When you’ve recorded all of the pages, you use a screwdriver to open up the plastic compartment, and then slide the locking switch over. That way, the recording will be safe from little fingers that might accidentally erase everything. THAT’S IT. It’s so easy!
Last week I recorded the Frosty the Snowman book for my best friend’s kids, Bean and Squeaks (not their real names). I took the book to them in Tennessee, completely forgetting that it would be a good idea to do a vlog demo for you before I gave it to them. Oops.
Hallmark Recordable Books are available in holiday AND everyday themes. Like I said, the perfect gift!
Something else you can get at Hallmark: custom cards that you create yourself. These are very cool. In fact, I spent the last forty-five minutes creating some everyday cards for myself. If you go to Hallmark Online, you’ll see what I mean. You can add monograms to notecards, personalize greeting cards, and–my favorite–upload your own photos to make the ultimate custom creation. I loved how I could use the sentiments provided in their library, but I could also change up the wording (and add my own) to make the cards truly my own. Want to try it yourself? Go to Hallmark.com and get 30% off holiday cards by using the code “BLOGHER30”!
So here’s the deal: the generous folks at Hallmark sent me a great package full of goodies, some for me to use, and some to share with my readers! I am going to award two readers with prizes, and they are:
Prize #1: A $40 one-time use gift code for Hallmark.com (expires 12/31/10)
Prize #2: A Frosty the Snowman Recordable Book, a Hallmark “Our Family” Keepsake Ornament, and two Hallmark Displayable Greeting Cards.
Wow, right? There are three ways to enter (Please leave an e-mail address in the comments! If I can’t reach you easily, I’ll choose another winner):
1. Leave a comment telling me what your favorite Hallmark product is.
2. Follow me with Google Connect and leave a separate comment telling me that you did that. If you already follow me, this one’s a freebie but you have to leave the comment anyway!
3. Tweet about this giveaway, including a link to this post. Leave a separate comment with the tweet url.
Other info: By entering, you are eligible for either of the two prizes; in other words, you’re happy with whichever one you might potentially win. The winners must live in the United States. (Sorry, foreign friends!) You have until next Tuesday (November 23) at 11:59 p.m. (Central) to enter; I will be using random.org to get the winners from all eligible comments. If you win, you have three days to respond to my e-mail with your mailing address; if I don’t hear from you I will choose another winner.
Good luck, spread the word, and Happy Holidays!
Disclosure: In addition to the items detailed in the prize packages above, Hallmark sent me a $40 gift code and a Frosty the Snowman recordable storybook for myself, as well as another Keepsake ornament, which I passed on to my BFF! I was not obligated in any way to share my experience with my readers, but chose to do so in–as always–my own words.

I ♥ Hallmark for just about everything (and LOVE LOVE LOVE that there is a Hallmark store in the lobby of my work building) but I've always found the cutest party invites at Hallmark.

Every time I walk past the "blank inside" section I think of that bit by Brian Regan. Classic!

My husband and I buy each other a Christmas ornament every year (since we've been together) and my favorites are the Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments. We have one from our first Christmas and one that says, "Our First Home, 1998", etc. Every year when I pull them out, they stir up some great memories!

I love hallmark. Every year, even though I am now 26 years old, my mom gets me (and my brother) a new ornament for our tree. It's a memory that I cherish with all my heart. Hallmark has always been a staple for us– so much so, that I was an assistant manager there for 2 years. I absolutely LOVED that job, and would go back in a heartbeat (if I could work full time!)
Excellent giveaway!
