You’ve Always Dreamed of Helping To Set A Guinness Book World Record, Haven’t You?

If you have (and you will be in the Chicago area this Sunday August 28), I’ve got just the thing for you.

The Tie Bar is inviting you and your whole family (extended family, even!) to come to Wrigley Square at Millennium Park (corner of Randolph/Michigan) to help them set the Guinness Book World Record for the most bow ties tied by a group. (And by “set”, I MEAN “set”. There is no current record on the books for this!) The event will take place at 2:00 p.m.

The first 500 people to show up to this Officially Sanctioned Guinness World Records® Event will get a free bow tie. Even better than that? The Tie Bar is donating $15 per participant to Goodwill of Chicago.

Something important to know is that you really need to know how to tie a bow tie BEFORE you get there, because there won’t be enough time to teach a couple hundred people before we get to setting the record. (It doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to be done properly.) This is a great instructional video to get you started:

The Tie Bar folks would love to know if you’re coming. If you have a second, go to the event page on Facebook and RSVP, or email info@thetiebar.com.

This is a GREAT opportunity to spend some quality family time doing something really fun that you can brag about for years to come, and it’s perfect for older kids, too! Speaking of older kids, someone wants to tell you something: (please forgive the video quality. It was 6:00 a.m. and neither one of us were camera-ready.)

If you’re a local and plan to come, let me know so we can look for you!
