Get Some Pampering On Black Friday From Macy’s and Chevrolet!

Many of you have big, big plans for Black Friday, trying to find some great holiday season deals. You might even be heading out to visit stores that open at midnight on Friday! If you’re anywhere near a Macy’s in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, or Boston, make sure you stop there first, and look for the hospitality stations which are co-sponsored by Macy’s and Chevrolet!

“Chevrolet wants to acknowledge those who devote their time and energy to making the holiday season memorable for families and friends,” said Phil Caruso, national promotions manager for Chevrolet. “We’re excited to spend the holidays with an American icon like Macy’s.”

2013 Chevrolet Malibu sedans and 2013 Chevrolet Traverse crossovers will be used as hospitality stations and will be open from 10 p.m. November 22 (that’s Thanksgiving night) until Macy’s opening time at midnight on November 23.

While Black Friday consumers warm up inside the Malibu or Traverse, roving Chevrolet Brand Ambassadors will “hold” their spots in line until they return. Consumers in line also can enter the national sweepstakes using Brand Ambassadors’ portable tablet computers.

In addition, consumers can enter the Chevrolet/Macy’s Holiday Promotion sweepstakes at 10 mall store locations from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday, from November 23 to mid-December. Nationwide, consumers may enter by visiting www.Chevrolet.com/Macys beginning Thursday.

One Grand Prize winner will receive a wish for their family – a choice of a Chevrolet Traverse or Malibu; a trip for them and a friend including a two-night stay in New York City plus a Macy’s shopping spree just for them; and a $1,000 Macy’s gift card.

Besides the Black Friday Hospitality Stations, other elements of the promotion run from November 23 to mid-December and include:

Chevrolet Concierge Services: To save time and reduce stress, Chevrolet will offer Macy’s shoppers in Los Angeles a concierge service. Designated Chevrolet Malibus with drivers will offer to transport customers to their cars and even load their packages – all free of charge.

Holiday Wish Machine With Macy’s: In 10 Macy’s mall locations – Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Seattle and Houston – shoppers can make three wishes at a special vehicle kiosk display: a new Chevrolet Malibu or Traverse for their family; a trip for them and a friend – which includes a two-night stay in New York City plus a Macy’s shopping spree; or a wish of a $1,000 Macy’s gift card. Those who make a wish for a friend can share the experience via a custom message on their personal Facebook page or by sending an email.

But wait, there’s more!

I have a $100 Macy’s gift card to give away! (That’ll help with some of the holiday shopping, won’t it?) I’m going to make this giveaway quick and easy, too. All you have to do to win is leave a comment telling me about the favorite holiday gift you’ve ever GIVEN, and why it’s your favorite. I can’t wait to read your stories! The deadline for leaving your comment/entry is 11:59 Central time this Friday night (November 23). Comments left after that time won’t count. The winner will be chosen randomly on Saturday and will need to respond to my “You’re a winner!” email by Sunday night with a mailing address so I can get the gift card to you ASAP!

But wait, there’s even more!
Bonus: if the winner happens to live within a fifty mile radius of Chicago city limits, he/she will also get a free week in a Chevrolet Malibu! (Dates for the Malibu loan will be determined jointly by the winner and Chevrolet, and the vehicle is subject to change at Chevrolet’s discretion.)

Happy commenting, and good luck!

Disclosure: I was not compensated for writing this post; just wanted to share the news for my pals at Chevrolet. I grabbed some of the wording from a press release, but most of this came out of my own brain.

The favorite holiday gift I’ve ever given has been doll house to my daughter. I put it under a card table and covered the card table in wrapping paper. She was about 3 or 4 years old and she had so much fun opening it. Then the joy on her face when she saw the doll house was priceless.

I love that you did this. I talked to Fred yesterday but wasn’t sure I’d be up for writing anything at all 🙁 Glad he got you at the very least! 🙂

My favorite gift I’ve ever given is Little Miss’s Woody doll I gave her last year. She walks around with it all the time and carries it with her and talks to it constantly. She isn’t a doll girl, but the look on her face when she saw this waiting for her….

My favorite gift I ‘ve ever given was an oil painting of a tiger that I gave my dad. It was the first Christmas that I had a full time job, he had pointed the painting out in an art gallery months before, and it cost me almost an entire paycheck. I actually made him teary, which was incredibly hard to do. That painting had a place of honor in every home that he lived in until he passed, and now it hangs in my home. Every time I look at it, I am reminded of the very first Christmas that I was an adult, and the look of surprise on his face.

I bought my dad a DVD of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in concert, which I knew he’d enjoy, but when I saw how many times he watched that concert on repeat I felt so happy that I’d managed to pick out a gift that he really loved!

The favorite gift I ever gave was a re-gifted watch to my husband…I gave it to him originally many years ago and he loved it. Unfortunately he accidentally broke it a couple years later (to smithereens) he was told the watch was no longer made and the parts were no longer available.

I took it to every watch repair place in the area and finally talked one repair guy into at least attempting to repair it (everyone had told me it could not be done)…well he did it. He fixed it.

So I re-gifted it to my husband and the look on his face when he opened the box was priceless!

My favorite is still upcoming. My 9 yo daughter is a gymnast and adores and empathizes with the American Girl doll of the year, McKenna. She’s wanted her bar & beam all year. It’s available this year only and crazy back ordered for months. The stores are cleaned out of them. She’s asked Santa for one but isn’t holding her breath and thinks it’s not going to happen. I got my act together early for once and ordered one for Christmas back in the spring that finally arrived. Can’t wait to surprise her!!

The best gift I’ve ever given was to my dad a few years ago. We made a mock-up of a cover of Martha Stewart Living but with my dad’s name instead of Martha Stewart’s. The fake cover advertised all kinds of stories that imparted my dad’s thoughts on how to live like ” The Only Way to Load a Dishwasher” and “What to Tip in Every Situation.” The cover photo was a picture of him with my daughter. It was the perfect gift for a man who knew everything about everything.

The best gift we’ve given was actually for my SIL’s baby shower. I got 2 of those Hallmark books that you can record, and I had my kids read the books to their newest cousin. Needless to say, I had my SIL and the entire baby shower in tears. (which I swear wasn’t my plan!).

I have liked giving many of the gifts I have given, but the first thing that came to my mind is the little handmade white porcelain bowls I found for my mom with blue hearts stamped in the middle of each. I haven’t given them to her yet, so don’t tell anyone. 🙂

My favorite gift I have given was a large soft and fluffy polar bear to my eldest son. he is polar bear obsessed and started to cry when he opened it. The bear still sits on his bed and travels everywhere with him 🙂

The best gift I have given was the monorail play set for my boys. We had gone to WDW and they came back obsessed with monorails. They were very excited to have their very own monorail and track to play with.

My favorite holiday gift I’ve ever given was a copy of J. California Cooper’s “In Search of Satisfaction” She’s an amazing author and this is one of my favorites. I love to share books with people I love.

I won a tablet last year and REALLY wanted to keep it. I ended up giving it to my dad (brand new) for Hanukkah since he’s not as mobile as he used to be and is hard for him to sit in front of the computer. I thought it would be nice for him to have something he could use in bed or while seated comfortably on a chair or couch.

My favorite gift I have err given was to my father. I bought him a digital picture frame and loaded it with pictures from his and my mothers early years as well as photos of our family growing up and all I his kids/grand kids up to date. He still tells me years later how much he enjoys that frame.

Still not enough to get me to go anywhere near a mall or a dept store on Friday. I used to work in retail– and once freed from that life I vowed to never go back to a mall on Black Friday again. *shudder*

My favorite holiday gift I have ever given was a wallet to my father. He had it with him up until he passed away. I still have it along with all of the pictures he kept near. It means a lot to me.

The favorite gift I’ve ever given is a laptop I gave to my daughter when we moved to the suburbs and she entered middle school. She was so bummed about the move (and leaving her friends in Chicago). We were a little strapped for cash at the time, but we pulled it off and she was so HAPPY. I’ll never forget that day.

i got my daughter a remote control helicopter last year when we really didn’t have the money to afford it. i told her she probably wouldn’t be able to get it, but we managed to get a special deal on it. i was even more excited than she was!

Best gift I’ve ever given? Would have to be my Mom’s Christmas gift last year. I got her Jadeite dishes, because she had told me about all the fond memories she had of staying with her grandmother for the summers when she was a kid and how much she loved her grandmother’s dishes and how sad she was when her grandmother passed away and no one thought to see if there was something of her grandmother’s she would like to have. She told me she would have loved to have had some of her dishes to remind her of those summers. I was able to find a nice set on Etsy and it left her speechless and crying.

about 10 years ago – my little brother had just had a 2nd baby (2 in two years) he was on disability as he had fallen and hurt his back at work, they had bills out the you know what and SIL didn’t get paid maternity leave – I paid their rent for two months! Felt really good to help them out!

My best gift I gave is probably my son’s train set. It was a huge one I got on sale that my husband put together the night before. I wrapped the big box and he opened that up then tried to drag it into the basement to set it up. When we went down there we realized Santa had already set it up for us 🙂 That was 4 years ago and he still plays with it!

Hmm… I think one of the favorite gifts I’ve given was tickets to Blue Man Group to my husband (although we were just engaged at the time). He wanted to go for a long time & was really excited about the show. We went & neither one of us liked the show, but we were glad we had the chance to see it!

My favorite gift that I’ve given had to a be a couple of Christmas’ ago when I gave my parents $500 to finish a remodeling project they had started. They are on a fixed income and didn’t think they could come up with the money to finish the project. It was my best Christmas ever.

the favorite gift I have ever given would have to be when I gave my mom a new garden! it’s my favorite because she loves it and everytime I come to her house I see how beautiful it is!

  • jennydecki

The best gift I’ve ever given is a pink flamingo for my cousins yard. She always wanted one and I put a little studded collar on it to reflect her punk rock style.

Whoa! What a great contest! And how cool will it be for some luck Chicago area reader?? Awesome.

My favorite gift I’ve ever given was a penny jar. Instead if pennies though, I filled it up with little slips of paper that had handwritten notes on them from different family members and friends all telling their favorite memories about my sister. She was going through a really hard time in high school and I thought she could use a reminder that she was loved by everyone. I wonder if she still has it…

The favorite gift that I’ve ever given so far is a large diaper bag that I made for one of my friends this year. She’s as tall as a giraffe, so naturally the diaper print had to be an actual giraffe print (grown up style) and I was really nervous that she wouldn’t like it. I’m glad that she did, and she even vlogged about it! Made me feel good.

The favorite gift I ever gave was a heater. My very good friend was in dire need of heat. She had just kicked her abusive husband out of the house and was left there with little money, no job and two kids. The house was big and drafty and turning on the heat took a lot of money but a heater would be less expensive. I sent them a heater and my friend cried when she saw it. It was the best feeling in the world to know that something so simple could bring such relief and joy. It was the best gift ever.

Does a future gift count? I’m that person who forgets every joke she’s ever heard when people sit around and start telling each other jokes, so my mind is blank. My MIL mentioned that she never prints out photos now that she has a digital camera. I’m going to get her a lulu or Shutterfly gift card, so she can make photos books of her trips and/or her grandchildren.

Mine would have to be that I gave my daughter a necklace & she loved it. She broke it and asked me to have it fixed when I use to work downtown. A few weeks later I had lost my wallet & told her her necklace was in there & how sorry I was. Oh she was so sad I almost cracked, but didn’t you see I found that necklace in the zipper part of my purse, had it fixed wrapped it up for Christmas & then in the bigger box & then a bigger box… well, you know the routine. She opened it and her face was priceless when she opened the box. She thought it was just a replacement, but it was the original for mama’s baby girl. Yes, tears of joy for both of us.

At our school we have a special get together party for our less fortunate students. We do an angel tree and the staff picks an angel and we shop for our angels, give then a party and let them open thier gifts. The smiles on their faces are so heartwarming. Priceless!!We have done this the last couple of years, just fills your heart to give a child gifts that you know they wouldn’t’ get otherwise.
