Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number

Today I turn 45.

Forty-five.

I must admit, I am having some trouble with that number. It doesn’t have anything to do with “feeling old” because truth be told, I feel younger than I did fifteen years ago. It’s just…the number. I don’t like thinking about it, and I don’t like saying it.

When I was a kid I did the math to figure out that in the year 2000, I would be thirty-two. I remember thinking, “Wow, that’s really old! I can’t even IMAGINE being that old!”

And here I am, thirteen years older than that.

I’m thrilled that I have the type of outgoing personality and active lifestyle that makes me feel decades younger than I really am. I am definitely young at heart, and I am blessed to have the ability to squeeze as much fun as I possibly can out of every single life experience.

That’s why I’m going to do my best to leave those icky feelings about my current age number behind, now that I have typed them out for everyone to see, and I’m going to make a quick switch to Plan B.

Instead of allowing myself to be all squirmy and icky about one number today, I’m going to think about different numbers as I count my blessings and my friends. Those numbers are much more fun anyway!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some birthday fun to have!

Hey, please do me a favor and go check out my post on the AWESOME Custom Facial I received at The Peninsula Spa, using ESPA age-enhancing luxury skin care products. Age-enhancing! See what I did there? Perfect timing!

Weird, I added arrows in my original comment along with “in which I am way ahead of you, too” and….guess what?!? Adding dashes with a > or < deletes that portion of the comment, which may or may not make someone sound like MORE of an idiot, just so you know.

I hope your dinner was outstanding tonight. I am so jealous, I hope we get to go to Texas de Brazil soon too.

I am so glad we could call this morning with our Happy Birthday song at 7:10am. I know you would miss it if we didn’t do it.

    Love

Well, considering that I am about to turn forty, it was good to read this today. I always say, “Age ain’t nothing but a number that tells you how old you are.”

It’s just a number. Which is mostly bs. but feeling the ick about a number is something I’m doing too. Probably because we’re soul sisters. Or because your’e so cool I want to do everything you do. Good thing I’ve already got a facial and fresh hair on my schedule for next week.
