Listen To Your Mother Chicago: Countdown To Showtime!

For the last nine days, Tracey and I have posted countdown pictures on Facebook. I think these pictures both excited and terrified our cast. Today is the big day. More than six months in the making, the very first LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER CHICAGO is finally making its debut, at 7:00 p.m. tonight to be specific. Where am I, mentally? So calm I can’t even express it. If you know me well, you know that “calm” is not a word I EVER use when I’m this heavily involved in a project. (Okay, or, uh, EVER. At all.) I know that I will be nervous as showtime approaches because I am…

On Getting It, And Ending Up At The Motel Bar.

Yesterday was a great day. We conducted our second and final formal rehearsal for the Chicago LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER show. I can’t express to you how happy it made me to run the show from start to finish. Tracey brought the actual podium we’ll be using at the actual show (in thirteen days!), and in a quiet conference room at Calumet Photo (thanks for providing such a great space, Calumet Photo! Woot!)–a huge change in environment from the restaurant where we had our first read-through because it was so much quieter and we could really focus–we laughed and cried, as the unit to which we had all contributed a…

Yes, you read that correctly. The show, which will be on Sunday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater in Chicago, sold out (all 299 seats!) in just over a week, but my co-producer Tracey and I each have a pair of tickets to give away, one lucky winner on each of our blogs. Entering is really easy (you’re welcome). Here’s how: Leave a comment telling me that you want to win the tickets, and either 1. that you CAN ATTEND the performance, or 2. that you will be gifting the tickets to someone who CAN ATTEND the performance. If you would be gifting the tickets,…

    Chicago Love

Ah, Chicago. You know *I* love it. You may even love it, too. I can tell you that Chris Pritchard loves it. Chris is a filmmaker who is working on a timelapse series called “Places in Time”. Lucky for me (and, let’s be honest, YOU), he chose Chicago as the first city in the series. I dare you to watch this and try not to fall in love–for the first time or all over again–with Chicago. I dare you. Places in Time: Chicago from Chris Pritchard on Vimeo. Read Chris’ notes on the film by clicking here.
