This is the first of three posts I am writing about my month-long trial of The Dailey Method. I am so excited to be able to share my experience with you! I love working out. I’m not an exercise addict by any means, but I really love it. Many people (especially those who don’t make exercise a regular part of their routine) think I’m a weirdo. I’m not. It’s just that over the years I have found activities that I enjoy, and because I enjoy them I have a higher level of motivation to exercise. If you’re a regular reader, you already know that Zumba is my most recent love.…

I Have Saved Over $2000 On Haircuts Alone.
No joke. Here’s the deal: home haircuts are a great way to save some money, especially if you have a man or two in your house who really loves a buzz cut. Why pay $10-15 (plus gas money) every four to six weeks when you can take care of it at home in five minutes? Let me back up. I was given the opportunity, after visiting the Housewares show in Chicago a couple of months ago, to review the new Wahl Lithium Ion Clipper and I jumped at the chance, not only because my old clipper is also a Wahl, but it is corded and on its last leg because…

Chocolate Milk: It’s Not Just For Kids Anymore!
When I was a kid, I used to drink chocolate milk all the time. Then I grew up, and stopped drinking it for the most part. (Confession: I often order chocolate milk if we go out to breakfast. WHAT?? Don’t judge.) Recently, chocolate milk has been big news. Not only is it a great way to get kids to get their dairy servings in (I couldn’t stand white milk when I was a kid!), but it is also a FANTASTIC post-workout drink–the best, actually–because it contains the protein, carbs, electrolytes, fluids, calcium, vitamin D, B vitamins, and other nutrients you need to refuel muscles, build muscle and help reduce exercise-induced…

If Only My Card-Carrying Teenage Music Fanatic Self Could Have Carried Cards Like These…
When I was a teenager in the 80’s, music videos were a new phenomenon. (Wow, that sentence screams old.) The launch of MTV in 1981 (who remembers which video was played first? The answer is at the end of this post.) made it possible for music fans everywhere–especially teens–to enjoy their favorite acts at a higher level than ever before. The visual experience of music videos back then was something to behold: most videos had a storyline and were shot like mini films. Most teenagers watched MTV during every waking moment, waiting for their favorite videos to appear in the rotation. Or maybe that was just me. For me, one…

Is It Possible That Food Could Taste TOO Good? Nah.
With all of the hub-bub surrounding the LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER show, I fell sadly behind on posting about a few other experiences I’ve had over the past couple of weeks. I’m back though, and getting back on the wagon… I don’t keep it a secret that I love to grocery shop. Not only am I a big fan of eating, but I also enjoy the actual act of grocery shopping, especially when I’ve got the time to do it right and as long as nobody touches my meat, because we all know what happens then. (It’s not pretty). It really helps when the store is a pleasure to visit.…
