I had a dream recently that I went to a gym (Remember gyms? Sigh.) with a few friends (Remember going places with friends? Sigh.) so we could take a class together. I was adamant that my friends didn’t tell the instructor that I used to teach classes a long time ago, because I knew what would happen. The dream made me laugh. I taught group fitness classes (spinning, along with low impact aerobics and strength training) for almost ten years but it’s been seven years since I “retired.” (The picture above was taken right before my final class.) I don’t even really think about teaching anymore so it was strange…

Still Doing It (Almost) Dailey Method
This is the third of three posts I am writing about my month-long trial of The Dailey Method. (Read the first one HERE and the second one HERE.) I am so excited to be able to share my experience with you! I have always felt comfortable in a fitness-related environment. Wait, let me make a change there. I have felt comfortable in a fitness-related environment for almost twenty years now. Doing It (Almost) Dailey At The Dailey Method
This is the second of three posts I am writing about my month-long trial of The Dailey Method. (Read the first one HERE.) I am so excited to be able to share my experience with you! Addicted. That’s me. Not one to ever take an opportunity for granted, I am taking my “Unlimited Month of Classes” at The Dailey Method very seriously: In the past fifteen days I have enjoyed ten classes, and have already made reservations for eleven classes for the next fifteen days. This is the first of three posts I am writing about my month-long trial of The Dailey Method. I am so excited to be able to share my experience with you! I love working out. I’m not an exercise addict by any means, but I really love it. Many people (especially those who don’t make exercise a regular part of their routine) think I’m a weirdo. I’m not. It’s just that over the years I have found activities that I enjoy, and because I enjoy them I have a higher level of motivation to exercise. If you’re a regular reader, you already know that Zumba is my most recent love.…

Spinning the Wheel, Part Two
I posted yesterday about how to get started taking group cycling classes. Today I want to cover some class etiquette. I have to put the disclaimer out there that I can’t speak for all instructors; this is what *I* prefer in my classes*. Most of these things are based on the principle that a group fitness instructor (or any type of teacher, really) has a large number of people to take care of for that hour, and using common sense can help improve the experience for everyone involved. 1. Please come to class wearing proper attire. I discussed what proper spinning attire is in yesterday’s post. What I will add…
