Listen To Me: I Have An Announcement! (Then, Listen To Your Mother!)

I am beyond excited to FINALLY be able to talk about this online, after six days of knowing about it. Six days that seem like six years, that is! I, along with my friend Tracey of Just Another Mommy Blog, will be bringing the “Listen To Your Mother” show to Chicago in 2012! What IS the “Listen To Your Mother” show, you ask? It’s a showcase of local writers who read, for a live audience, one “performance” only, their words about motherhood. The first show, in Madison, Wisconsin on Mother’s Day in 2010 was conceived (get it?) and produced by Ann Imig, who is now the National Director. This year,…

Chicago’s Water Tower: Small But Mighty

This Saturday marks the 140th anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The fire, rumored–but never confirmed–to have been started by Mrs. O’Leary’s cow, not only razed just about the entire city but also set the stage for its rebirth into the world-class metropolis it is today. Breakfast On The Ledge! Yoga On The Ledge!

Although I’m not being financially compensated for this program, one of my benefits was the opportunity to enjoy “Breakfast on The Ledge”, and I took advantage of it on Monday. My companion for breakfast? My older son, D. Breakfast on The Ledge is a celebrity-style experience in which you eat a catered breakfast up on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower before Skydeck Chicago is open to the public. We started getting excited when…

The Weekend We Smashed My Old Record To Bits

As you no doubt recall from the last two posts, my endless tweeting, and possibly my Facebook statuses, Momofali and her lovely, funny, and super-cute daughter visited me this weekend. I issued a challenge to you, to take a stab at guessing how many attractions I could show the two of them in the course of 2 1/2 days. I even made a little contest out of it, and decided to do a random drawing from all of the comments for a mini Chicago souvenir prize pack. But more about that at the end of this post. (See how I did that? Now you have to look at my vacation…
