And just like that, three weeks have gone by!
I started the Listerine 21-Day Challenge with a pretty good plan for getting into the mouthwash-using habit: I just kept the bottle on the bathroom counter so I wouldn’t miss it. That’s it! I figured a simple “product placement” would scare away my lifetime of laziness as it related to mouthwash.
As it turns out, simple works! (Note to self: Melisa, you don’t always have to do things the hard way!)
I have faithfully rinsed with Listerine twice a day for thirty seconds each time, and I’m pretty proud of myself. Being someone who is very sensitive about oral health because of my dental history, I have felt better knowing that my whole mouth is clean (not just 25% of it from brushing alone, which is one of the statistics I learned at the beginning of this challenge that really stuck with me), and who doesn’t love fresh breath? My fresh breath 2.0 is totally worth an extra minute of effort each day. And so is yours.
In fact, it’s not too late to sign up on the Listerine Facebook page and do the challenge yourself. For every person who signs up for the challenge, the Listerine Brand will make a contribution to help Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America program toward their goal of connecting 210,000 children with needed oral health services in 2013. Visit the Listerine Facebook page and click on the “Listerine 21 Day Challenge” graphic just below the header. Sign up there by following the prompts. Don’t forget to print out your coupon, too!
In just three weeks, I did myself a favor and developed a great habit that is going to keep me and my mouth healthier. It has become as automatic as brushing my teeth and taking my vitamins. I can’t believe I wasn’t doing it before, but better late than never!
My next challenge? Turning my “now and then” flossing habit into a DAILY flossing habit. I have a good feeling about it.
Thanks very much to Erin and the other kind folks at The Motherhood (and Listerine, of course) for this opportunity! My mouth thanks you too. Well, you know. Literally and figuratively.
Disclosure: I received products from Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. and The Motherhood as part of my participation in the Listerine 21 Day Challenge. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
