The One With The Milestones

Netflix Stream Team

I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team and will be happily sharing monthly tips and stories about how my family uses Netflix on a regular basis. (Okay, that’s an understatement. I should say CONSTANTLY. We use Netflix CONSTANTLY.) As a member of the Stream Team I was provided with a Roku and a voucher to apply towards my Netflix account.

This month, the Netflix Stream Team was asked to write about family milestones, and as I mulled it over, my thoughts were interrupted by HUGE NEWS: “Friends” is going to be available for streaming on Netflix in the United States and Canada starting on January 1, 2015.

Friends-Netflix

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING.

It’s so easy for us to stream our favorite television shows these days (thanks in large part to Netflix!), but there are three sitcoms that hold a tremendously special place in my heart: “The Cosby Show”, “Seinfeld”, and “Friends”.

Could I BE any more excited about New Year’s Day? No. I think not.

Over ten seasons we watched Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler, and Joey celebrate lots of milestones while hanging out at Central Perk in their spare time (and boy, they had lots of spare time, didn’t they?).

…like the time Phoebe was the surrogate for her brother and his wife, and gave birth to triplets.
(“The One With The Triplets”, Season 5, Episode 3)

…or the time Ross and Rachel kissed for the first time.
(“The One Where Ross Finds Out”, Season 2, Episode 7)

…or the time when Monica and Chandler got engaged.
(“The One With The Proposal, Part 2”, Season 6, Episode 25)

…or the time Joey got a job as Al Pacino’s butt double.
(“The One With The Butt”, Season 1, Episode 6)

Some of my favorite “mini milestones” are:

…the time when Ross said Rachel’s name at his wedding to Emily.
(“The One With Ross’ Wedding, Part 2”, Season 4, Episode 24)

…the time when Phoebe decided to give her grandma’s “secret chocolate chip cookie recipe” to Monica.
(“The One With Phoebe’s Cookies”, Season 7, Episode 3)

Friends Phoebe Nestle Toll House

…and the time when Chandler got stuck in an ATM vestibule with Jill Goodacre. I’ve been saying “Gum would be perfection” ever since.
(“The One With The Blackout”, Season 1, Episode 7)

Don’t even get me started on my favorite quotes. (“How YOU doin?” “I KNOW!” “Pi-VOT!” “Joey doesn’t share food!”)

Let’s face it, I could go on for days. But I don’t have to! We can all watch—or re-watch—ALL of the milestones starting New Year’s Day!

Get your motor running by watching the adorable promo video featuring The Rembrandts and Gunther HERE, and then settle in. We’ve got two and a half months left.

So, how long do you think it’ll take to watch all ten seasons? Hold my calls.

I can see myself in January, not leaving my bed for DAYS as I re-watch all my favorites from my warm beddy!!! BTW nothing made me happier than, when helping a friend move a few weeks ago… the BF and his cousin were moving a couch up the stairs and around a corner. I was stuck behind them with what I was carrying and the three of us just LOST IT laughing when I shouted -“PIV-OT! PIV-OT!”
