    Yes We Did.

I couldn’t let today go by without putting some miscellaneous thoughts up here about the incredible events that occurred in Washington D.C. today. I taught class this morning and took the quickest shower ever, so I could get my hair dry and apply my makeup before rushing to work to try to get a live feed on the internet. As I was driving, I was able to listen to Rick Warren’s inaugural invocation. Normally, invocations don’t thrill me, to be honest. Being a Jew, I can’t usually find anything to relate to in a traditional type of invocation. Today though, driving in my car from class to work, I was…

How To “Garden Nude” While Wearing Clothing*

I don’t need to tell you that January is a month of reflection on the past and goal-making for the future. I just finished reading the book Gardening Nude by Shawna Cornonado at The Casual Gardener. While the front of the book includes a provocative (and gorgeous!) photograph of Shawna, layin’ around “naked” (sort of) in the garden, the contents prove that you can’t judge this book by its cover. Gardening Nude is not meant in a literal sense. Shawna has experienced some…

    Auld Lang Syne

Disclaimer: This New Year’s Eve Recap is not for Dork-a-phobes. We had a GREAT time on New Year’s Eve. We were invited to the home of two of our oldest friends; actually they are our oldest “Couple” friends. (does that make sense?) Dawn and Scott live almost 90 minutes south of here and we only get together once or twice each year; although I wish we lived closer, our time together always ends up being worth the wait. Due to the length of the drive to and from their house, I was trying to figure out who I would ask to give Roxie a potty break while we were gone…

It Was Less of An Extreme Makeover & More Like Botox, But Still Feels Like a New Blog!

And unlike a Botox-injecting celebrity, I *do* want you to notice! How’s it look? For the last few months, I have been absolutely dying to renovate this blog (mainly the background, because the shade of blue I had on here was driving me crazy), especially since I’ve seen some great makeovers on some of your blogs, like this one, this one, and this one. The problem? I had to work with my header, which I definitely wanted to keep because I think it’s absolutely perfect. And then it became a perfect problem when figuring out the rest…but I made it through. I have been laboring away at this new look…
