You’re going to be seeing a lot about Go Red For Women this month. Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s campaign to bring attention to heart disease in women. (Tomorrow, February 3, is “National Wear Red Day”!) I have been asked to share information with you (in exchange for a complimentary ticket) about the Go Red For Women Girls’ Night Out in Chicago on Wednesday, February 29. It will be a night of shopping, fashion, food, and mini spa treatments (not to mention cocktails by Spicebox Whiskey and Lulu B) at the Alhambra Palace restaurant from 7-10 p.m. Guests are asked to bring a gently used purse…

The One In Which I Give You Action Items
Big stuff today. Unfortunately, for you to get the most out of it, I’m going to have to ask you to leave. Let me explain. First of all, I am so very excited that I have been selected by Hallmark to be a contracted blogger in their “Life Is A Special Occasion” campaign for the entire year. Once each month, I will be writing about the special moments–big and little–in my family, as well as all kinds of other things that may, if you’re not careful, cause you to have the warm and fuzzies. I’m especially proud of my inaugural post for this campaign; it’s all about my chronic dance…

Come And See Me At Elevenzees!
Mark your calendar, Chicago-area readers! I am super-excited to announce that I’ll be signing copies of Chicken in the Car and the Car Won’t Go: Nearly 200 Ways to Enjoy Chicagoland With Tweens and Teens on Saturday January 14, from 12-3. I fell in love with Elevenzees the first time I walked in the door. It’s a great place to pick up a special gift for any special someone, and it’s just a beautiful shop. (It’s surrounded by other fantastic boutiques, too, so…

Much like the time I got invited to watch a Cubs game from a rooftop, watching a (2010 Stanley Cup Champions) Blackhawks game from the eighth floor in total luxury was something I have never before experienced, and appreciated from the depths…

Willy Wonka And the Chocolate Factory: Reunited And It Feels So Good
As you know, my sister and I have made it a semi-regular habit to attend celebrity appearance events at our local theaters, Hollywood Palms and Hollywood Boulevard. It was only two months ago that we met Henry Winkler, Penny Marshall, and Eddie “Carmine ‘the Big Ragu” Ragusa” Mekka. In the spring, we met Burt Reynolds. This weekend there was another event we couldn’t resist: “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” on the big screen, in honor of its *cough cough* 40th anniversary. This film is a huge one with my family in general, but it was also the first movie I saw in the theater, ever. Though we have watched…
