I’m guessing that most of us know at least one other person who has been affected by breast cancer. I’m also guessing that each of us with someone special who has been affected by breast cancer has an interest in making sure that all of the research that’s being done in order to prevent, treat, and eradicate this disease can continue. What if I told you that there was an easy way for you to donate to the cause, while having some fun at the same time? The Avon Walk For Breast Cancer, a two-day, 39-mile fundraising walk which began in 2003 and raised $423 million dollars in its first…

I Was Here First.
This conversation actually happened at the base of the Marina City towers (my lifelong dream home) over the weekend: D: I would love to live here. Me: I would love to live here. I have wanted to live here since I was a kid. D: Well, you’ve only wanted to live here longer than me because you’re… Me: Because I’m…OLDER???? *rolling eyes* I KNOW. I’m older. I was here first. D: Anyway, I want to live here. Me: Sigh.

Girls’ Night Out: Go Red For Women!
It’s that time of year again! For the third year in a row, I will be joining a bunch of my girlfriends, B96, 104.3 K-HITS and Bath & Body Works at the gorgeous Alhambra Palace (1240 West Randolph Street, Chicago) for “Girls’ Night Out: Go Red For Women”, an event that celebrates the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement. The event is on Thursday, February 28 from 7:00-10:00 p.m., and I know it’s going to be a great time. Last year was pretty awesome. The only problem I’m currently having will sound familiar to you: wardrobe. I drove myself absolutely insane in 2011, trying to find the perfect…

Dude, Dat Donut Is Delicious!
- Best Thing Ever, Friends, Fun in Chicago, I've Got Mad Skillz, Jew Stuff, My Friends Have Mad Skillz, We Are An Awesome Couple
I Laugh Because She Thinks *I* Did *HER* A Favor.
Last night I was online (surprise, surprise) and happened to check my Tweetdeck to see what all of my Twitter friends were up to. I noticed this, from my friend Jen: I decided to respond with a sincere offer: As usual, Jen’s response to my response was devoid of any emotion whatsoever: Actually, I was getting ready to go out to dinner with Jim and the boys, but I told Jen I was very serious about the offer to help and I would be happy to stop by her house for a while after my TDM class this morning. We had a series of Direct Messages which included her asking…

Coca-Cola Balanced Living Workshop–A-ha Moments!
I was compensated for my participation in Coca-Cola’s Balanced Living Workshop, but my thoughts and views are my own. So, I’m back. It probably won’t surprise you to learn that when I was telling people that I was going to a Balanced Living Workshop about health and wellness that was hosted by Coca-Cola, I got a lot of the following: “Huh?” “Coca-Cola? RIGHT.” “hahahahahaha!” The fact is, not only does Coca-Cola have so many brands–including lots of no- and low-calorie drinks–that I would rather link to them than list them here, but they also have some great initiatives that make it easier for people to enjoy healthier servings of their…

If You Need Me, I’ll Be Learning How To Live With More Balance at Coca Cola’s Balanced Living Workshop…
I was compensated for my participation in Coca-Cola’s Balanced Living Workshop, but my thoughts and views are my own. I am constantly trying to search for balance in my life; if you’re a regular here, you already know that. I’m constantly juggling a bunch of different projects, my workouts and my family stuff, all while trying to weave a bunch of fun in there somewhere. (Making room for fun, I admit, is something at which I excel. Go figure.) Sometimes though, it’s important to get serious. Being a mom in my forties, I am busier than ever but also finally coming to the realization that taking care of myself really…

The Greatest Show On Earth
Last night I went to the circus. My sister, J, and I headed out to take in the show and I realized it had been approximately thirty-five (ish) years since I had enjoyed a “real” circus, if you don’t count the much smaller-scale Shrine Circus that my father-in-law participated in when he was a clown named Jingles. (And I don’t.) Even that was about eighteen years ago. As the circus–the one known as “The Greatest Show On Earth’–started and seventeen-year-old J had the look on his face of being really impressed with the amazing acts (rather than the “I’m a teenager and I really don’t belong here” face), I suddenly…

Listen To Your Mother 2013: And We’re Off!
I am SO thrilled to help spread the word that the 2013 season of Listen To Your Mother officially begins today!! Tracey and I will be co-producing the show in Chicago again (our 2nd year: wahoo!), but if you’re not in our area don’t worry: it’s likely you live near another 2013 show city. Why? Because LTYM has expanded from ten cities in 2012 to TWENTY-FOUR cities in 2013! (Wow, I know!) Here is the beautifully-produced announcement video: More information about who is producing the other shows is coming soon, as is audition information and all of those other details that will gradually get us to show day in May.…

Marina City Obsession!
It’s been nearly two weeks since I spent a lovely Sunday morning in the city, enjoying a peek at some of Chicago’s most famous buildings as a part of Open House Chicago, presented by the Chicago Architecture Foundation. The charm of this special event, which debuted last year, is that the public is given access to parts of buildings that are normally inaccessible to those of us who don’t live or work in them. Oh, and it’s free, which is totally cool. Due to the fact that I had a very important date with my sister and Adam Ant that night, I only had time to see a few buildings…
