Pocket Full Of Posies

I adore public sculptures of all kinds, but I have a soft spot for sculptures of people. (Remember one of my favorites, Magdalene?) Today J and I were at a park that I hadn’t explored before, and we came across this beautiful sculpture of a little girl.

I said, “Look…she has a pocketful of posies.”

He replied (a little too happily, if you ask me), “Oh, well, THAT’S bad news.”

“Ring around the rosy
A pocket full of posies
‘Ashes, Ashes’
We all fall down!”

(If you don’t know the supposed meaning of this verse, click here to understand why J was happily “doomsday” about the little girl’s flowers.)
