Deep down, I’m a dancer.
I have had no training other than my years of ballet and tap classes as a kid (okay and those couple ballroom lessons that Jim and I took last year), but I know I’m a dancer.
I used to LOVE taking aerobics classes, the more challenging the choreography, the better.
My foot taps along with a good beat with no prompting from my brain.
I adore going to receptions where a dance floor has been set up, and don’t even try to keep me from doing the Cha-Cha Slide, the Cupid Shuffle, or the Electric Slide (or even the Chicken Dance). Your efforts will be wasted.
I not only enjoy watching ballroom dancing (and shows related to it), but I also enjoy watching cheerleading competitions because the choreography is just amazing to me.
I have even attempted to do dance routines previously pioneered by the following:
~Janet Jackson
~Gwen Stefani
~Beyonce
~Britney Spears
~Paula Abdul

When I saw this T-Mobile ad, featuring a flash mob dance, I was in awe.
This week, the news of Oprah’s closing down of the busiest section of the Mag Mile (Michigan Avenue) in Chicago was all we heard about. Though I complained a little bit about it as if I would be personally affected by it like the commuters and cabbies (I wasn’t), in theory it was a really cool idea. Though I don’t watch her show very often, I decided to record the broadcast of her “Block Party” on Thursday, to see how the show went.
I have never wanted to be in her audience more, in all the time she’s been on, than when I saw the surprise that her audience, crew, and the Black Eyed Peas pulled off for Ms. O. Watch for the brunette in the front row who is wearing a dark blue shirt; it starts with her. Click here.
I guess I’m going to have to start patrolling major metropolitan areas, hoping that those around me will break out into spontaneous dance. If you need me, I’ll be in the city…

Ok, your a dork. So am I. I have watched this about 10 times already and wish I was in the city more.
Flash Mob is supposed to be some kind of tv show this season, I heard it on the radio. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Thought about blogging about it but I wasn't sure if watching Oprah was cool or not…lol!

Both of those videos were incredibly neat. I haven't watched Oprah in years, but took on chance on this and wasn't disappointed – that was crazy cool. I love dancing too, and talk about the best (and least boring) workout ever.

That was cool. Really.

That is amazing! How do they know what to do? I would love to be dancing there – but sadly I would be the one going the wrong direction!

That would have been so much fun to be in the Oprah crowd. Love that!

You know, with the remake of Fame coming out this month, I predict that randomly bursting into song and dance will become cool. (you heard it here first, folks)

Looks like you need to be a twitter friend of Oprah so they can get you in the next dance! That was really cool! Why couldn't they have done that in July?
BTW, I am a singer. Just not in public. Ever.
WeaselMomma
That was really cool and I am kicking our own butts for not going.

That is COOL. And here I was just thinking that this is what happens when you have to wait out in the heat and the ick for six hours before the broadcast. I love the networking to get this done.
And am I the only person absolutely smarmed out by the gold microphone? Explain that for someone who didn't watch the whole show 🙂
Heather
Okay, I want to know WHY you didn't GO?!?! I mean, like you & Weaselmomma could have been RIGHT IN THAT!
*smirks & shakes head* bet you're kicking yourself now! This could have been your big dance break!
😉

How awesome was that? I like that look of genuine excitement on Oprah's face. It's gotta be really fun to be a part of this… Secretly I am a singer – well in my shower I am anyway 🙂
