It’s A Baby Shower For Operation Precious CARgo!

I have signed on to do yet another thing. I know what you’re thinking:

“Is she NUTS?”

“She’s so busy!”

“She is DEFINITELY NUTS.”

This is really really cool, though. (And it’s short-term, which is a bonus.)

I have been asked by the lovely people of Chevrolet to captain a team for Operation Precious CARgo. The mission is to collect registry items for a deserving, expectant military mom.

So…cool, right?

Basically my “team” (and that includes my Social RevUp partners MJ and Dwana who are unofficially co-captaining) is made up of all of my local family and friends. Do you know me? Live in the Chicago area? You’re on my team. Welcome!

Over the next two-and-a-half weeks (through 3/22) I will be collecting donations of items from the following list:

Diapers (sizes 4, 5 or 6)
Baby wipes
Bottles
Pacifiers
Blankets
Baby soap and baby lotion
Lanolin cream
Burp cloths
Onesies (gender-neutral)
Socks
Hats
Newborn lounger pillow
Hand sanitizer
Medical kit – thermometer, mini-nail clippers, bulb syringe, etc.
Hooded towel and washcloth
Sensory toys and/or stuffed animals

How will I collect them, you ask? A couple of ways.

1. Save the date for Saturday March 17th! I will be at Chevrolet of Naperville, located at 1515 W. Ogden Avenue in Naperville (like the name says!), from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., hosting a very (very) (very) casual “baby shower”. I would love to feed you sweets when you come by, and chat with you for a spell. We won’t play ANY of those stupid baby shower games like blind-tasting baby food or guessing how long a piece of yarn we’d need to wrap around a pregnant woman’s stomach. I promise. Also, I heard a rumor that I might be making a rainbow cake that day.

2. If you know that you can’t make it on March 17th, you’ve got between tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday March 7) and Saturday March 17 at 1:00 to drop off items at the same place, Chevrolet of Naperville. The good folks there will secure the items until I leave after the baby shower!

3. If you’re in the city, you can email me privately at melisawells(at)gmail(dot)com and I will be able to give you information about a city drop off with either myself or MJ and Dwana. (We haven’t worked those details out yet.)

4. Chevrolet has given me a $100 Visa gift card to use for my baby shower and/or items for the expectant mom. I’m using it all for her.

Chevrolet is also loaning me a vehicle to use for a week so I can pick up donations, and I was ambitious, choosing a Silverado truck. A TRUCK. A truck that needs to be filled! Chal-LENGE!!

Would you be so kind as to spread the word to your local friends and family? They are welcome on my team, too!

Thanks in advance for helping me do a good deed for a great cause!

*I normally put posts about any of my work with brands on my “reviews” page, but since this is a good deed and I’m not actively reviewing a Chevrolet, I’m just putting it here.
